MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
I believe learning to play the flute has the ability to connect and strengthen one physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
I am a musician because I love the energy it gives me. Teaching lets me share this passion. I remember when I first began playing the flute at age nine. During practice sessions time would almost stand still and I felt like I could practice forever. I feel I can show students how I developed the love of music and that they can develop it as well if they are willing to work for it.
I achieve this in lessons by showing that discipline has the capability to help one work smarter instead of harder and that practicing can be fun. Having played classical and jazz music professionally, I feel it helps me to teach more flexibly and creatively than many teachers who only have experience with classical music.
